The Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance (MITA) has named Peter Weems as the organization’s new policy director.

Prior to joining MITA, Weems was an associate with van der Walde & Co., a healthcare finance and policy advisory firm, where he provided research and analysis on federal healthcare payment policy to capital markets and private equity investors.

Weems has also worked for lobbying firms in Washington, D.C, where he worked in research roles dealing primarily with healthcare. He received a bachelors degree in philosophy from James Madison University and also serviced as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Republic of Armenia.

“MITA is committed to educating policymakers and regulators about the role of medical imaging in improving health outcomes and reducing costs,” said Gail Rodriguez, executive director of MITA in a statement. “Peter’s extensive political and policy experience positions him well to represent the interests of our members in Washington, D.C. and beyond.”
