At the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) 2017 Annual Scientific Meeting, a record breaking 32 new Fellows were inducted. Less than 10 percent of SIR members achieve this honor that is awarded to those who have demonstrated excellence in research, published works, teaching or leadership within the field of interventional radiology and who have made significant contributions to the society.

“Each new SIR Fellow has demonstrated a level of excellence in research, mentorship and patient care that has propelled interventional radiology forward," said SIR 2016-2017 President Charles E. Ray Jr., MD, PhD, professor and head of the department of radiology at the University of Illinois, Chicago in a statement. “Their commitment to our specialty ensures that interventional radiology remains synonymous with modern medicine, developing breakthrough, minimally invasive treatements that maximize patient care.”
