Value-Based Payment Modifier informal review period ends Dec. 16

CMS published a reminder this week that the informal review period for the 2016 Value-Based Payment Modifier ends Dec. 16, 2015.

CMS created this review period so that groups of 10 or more eligible professionals could request corrections of perceived errors in the modifier calculations.

The Value-Based Payment Modifier is an adjustment to Medicare payments made on a per-claim basis.

The statement from CMS is also a reminder that the 2014 Annual Quality and Resource Use Reports (QRURs) were first made available in September 2015. The QRURs are for informational purposes only for some providers, but will show how the value modifier applies to physician payments for others. More information can be found on the CMS website.

Providers can contact the CMS QRUR Help Desk with questions.
