The Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association licensee is attempting to curtail the delivery of multiple diagnostic imaging exams on a single patient during a single healthcare encounter.
Using CT scans, a deep learning algorithm can recommend optimal lung cancer screening intervals by distinguishing between high-risk and low-risk lung nodules.
Meanwhile, the commission called such agreements an “exploitative practice that suppresses wages, hampers innovation, and blocks entrepreneurs from starting new businesses."
The results suggest an association between patient worry and abnormal results, signifying an opportunity for providers to tailor their communication strategy.
"This was an unneeded burden, which was solely adding to the administrative hassles of medicine," said American Society of Nuclear Cardiology President Larry Phillips.
