U.K. hospital hopes to demolish bed store, build radiology clinic in its place

The East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust may demolish the former location of a bed store near Colchester Hospital in the U.K. to develop new imaging facilities.

According to a report from the Daily Gazette, the space had held 53 mattresses and 28 beds used by the hospital. It is now being relocated to another location nearby. The new facility would be used for interventional radiology and coronary angiography services.

“The relocation of the bed store to a less ‘central’ location will free up valuable clinical space with good adjacencies to wards and services,” noted a report to the Colchester Council.
