MRI suite in Illinois focuses on patient comfort

OSF Centers for Health in Peoria, Illinois, offers a wide-bore MRI that is four inches larger than a conventional scanner and includes a “Caring Suite” that makes it popular among patients.

The Caring Suite is meant to make the MRI suite “look less clinical,” according to a report in the Journal Star. It allows for a variety of functions, including adjustable lights, music and warming features for patient comfort.

“It’s a way to keep patients calm without medication,” Jamie White, manager of CT & MRI outpatient diagnostics, told the Journal Star.

Construction for the new suite began in March 2017 and has been serving patients since November.
