Strategic Radiology has added a 30th member to its growing coalition of independent imaging practices, company officials announced on Tuesday.
Founded in 1984, Delaney Radiology currently employs 28 fellowship-trained physicians, operating in Wilmington, North Carolina. It represents the fifth Tar Heel State radiology practice to join the group since 2019.
President L. Neal Beard Jr., MD, said the group pursued the partnership to take part in Strategic Radiology’s patient safety organization and leverage its buying power.
“We also look forward to exchanging best practices with other like-minded practices that are committed to independence,” Beard said March 17.
Delaney Radiology provides subspecialized radiology interpretations and procedures for four hospitals and multiple other sites throughout the Wilmington metropolitan area. It also maintains community connections through its two outpatient imaging centers in the North Carolina port city.
Scott Bundy, MD—named Strategic Radiology’s CEO and chairman in January—said its newest member is “well respected” in the community, and known for its commitment to quality, innovation and patient-centered care. “Delaney Radiology will make a great addition to the SR team,” he said in a statement.
After Wednesday’s news, Palmetto, Florida-based Strategic Radiology now represents more than 1,300 radiologists, delivering care across 35 states.
