ASRT Foundation expands research grant funding

The American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) Foundation has expanded its research grant funding structure, separating it into three primary tiers.

Tier one, for example, includes a New Researcher Award, which funds up to $3,000 for a researcher who has never been the first author of a peer-reviewed article or been given a research grant. It will be awarded in spring 2019, and applications are due Jan. 25, 2019.

Tier two includes an Emerging Research Award, which funds up to $4,000 to a researcher who has received a maximum of one research grant in the past. It will be awarded in fall 2019, and applications are due June 27, 2019.

Tier three includes the ASRT Foundation’s ongoing research grant opportunities. A $25,000 grant, for instance, is available for experienced researchers. To be considered by spring 2019, a letter of intent must be sent to the foundation by Jan. 25, 2019.

“Our goal is to support and develop the researchers whose new ideas will strengthen the radiologic technology profession,” Steven Hardy, MS, RT(R)(T)(CT), CMD, executive vice president of development and corporate relations for the ASRT Foundation, said in a prepared statement. “Our new tiered program allows researchers to investigate the grant program they’d like to pursue while giving them more options to choose from.”
