Changes at Strategic Radiology as independent practice coalition adds former rad tech to C-suite

Strategic Radiology, a coalition of independent physician practices, announced changes at the top Wednesday with a former radiologic technologist joining its C-suite.

Barbara Perez Deppman is stepping into the role of chief operating officer, taking over for Randal Roat, who retires. Dec. 15. She previously served as executive director for Radiology Associates of South Florida from 2015-1018 and administrative director overseeing several imaging service lines at the University of Miami/Jackson Health System.

She launched her career as a rad tech before eventually reaching those roles, and helped oversee Baptist Health’s growth from 1 ambulatory imaging location up to 20, according to an announcement.

“Barbara is an outstanding addition to our leadership team,” Strategic Radiology CEO Scott Bundy, MD, said in a statement. “Not only does she have a deep understanding of radiology with experience in both the hospital and practice leadership settings, but she also has an insider’s understanding of our culture that enabled her to hit the ground running.”

Headquartered in Palmetto, Florida, Strategic Radiology’s coalition includes 30-plus private radiology practices representing more than 1,300 physicians.
