ASRT announces recipients of annual Distinguished Author awards

The American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) has announced the recipients of its Radiologic Technology Distinguished Author Award in Honor of Jean I. Widger and Radiation Therapist Distinguished Author Award in Honor of Harold Silverman. Each award is presented annually and chosen by the journal’s editorial review board.

The Radiologic Technology Distinguished Author Award went to Lauren B. Noble, EdD, and Melissa P. Culp, MEd, for their Radiologic Technology article, “Computed Radiography Photostimulable Phosphor Plate Receptors: Effect on Grid Conversion Factors.”

The study included three different experiments that examined how conversion factors impact exposure indicators with a computed radiography PSP receptor.

The Radiation Therapist Distinguished Author Award went to Terrence J. Ravine, PhD, Patricia Brewer, MPA, Sarah E. Bru, MS, and Shannon Tyler, MD, for their Radiation Therapist article, “Attachment Potential and Survival of Bacterial Pathogens on Radiation Therapy Thermoplastic Immobilization Forms.”

The study looked at how clinics are currently storing their masks and how various bacterial pathogens grew on heat-treated masks over time.

All authors will be honored on June 22 at the ASRT Annual Governance and House of Delegates Meeting in Las Vegas.
