European Society of Radiology tops 82K members worldwide

The European Society of Radiology (ESR) announced it has topped 82,000 members around the world. It hopes to reach 100,000 by the end of November.

“This record could not have been achieved without the continued, strong support from all national and allied science societies, who play a vital role in promoting the ESR to their own members,” read a prepared statement issued by the ESR. “Through cooperation with these societies, the ESR is proud to claim one of the most diverse membership bases of any medical society in the world, with members from 161 countries, working in a wide range of professions including radiology, radiography and medical physics.”

The ESR is working to increase membership across the world with collaboration and outreach with national societies—particularly with countries outside of Europe.

Most recently, ESR collaborated with the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) to highlight the benefits of ESR membership that include discounted fees to attend the European Congress of Radiology.

“Our society hopes that the collaboration will mark the beginning of a closer friendship with the ASRT, ultimately serving to benefit all radiographers from both North America and Europe for the long-term,” the ESR noted in a prepared statement.
