Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, recently poured $7 million into its Center for Orthopaedics, the Daily Item reported this week—and the radiology renovation is prioritizing patient flow when many imagers are struggling to keep up with an increasing demand for their work.
“The hope is you don’t have to wait as long for an appointment,” Kendra Aucker, the president and CEO of Evangelical, told the Daily Item. “When they’re here, they’ll move more quickly through the process.”
And while the hospital did invest in top-of-the-line imaging equipment that allows for quicker uploads, greater image detail and onsite photo manipulation, the overhaul didn’t focus solely on machines. Aside from growing the number of exam rooms from 15 to 28, Aucker said the hospital prioritized patient flow by instituting multiple triage areas as individuals move through the building.
The move will increase patient capacity and improve efficiency, she said, while elevating the clinical space.
“It’s beautiful,” Joan Moore, a senior accounting clerk who previously worked at the center, told the Item. “I want to be here.”
