Charles E. Kahn Jr. named editor of RSNA’s new AI journal

Charles E. Kahn Jr., MD, MS, professor and vice chair of the department of radiology at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine in Philadelphia, has been named the editor of RSNA’s new online journal, Radiology: Artificial Intelligence. The journal is scheduled to launch in spring 2019.

Kahn’s clinical specialty is abdominal imaging. He has experience as an associate editor of RSNA’s Radiology journal, section editor for the Yearbook of Medical Informatics, guest editor for the Journal of the American College of Radiology and chair of the Publications Committee of the American Roentgen Ray Society. He has also worked as a reviewer for numerous other industry journals.

Radiology: Artificial Intelligence is an exciting venture,” Kahn said in a prepared statement. “I’m deeply honored for the opportunity to serve as this new journal’s editor, and look forward to working with our authors, reviewers and editorial team to present cutting-edge science in this rapidly growing field.”

“With his extensive editorial experience and profound interest in the fields of artificial intelligence and machine learning, Charles Kahn is a natural fit for this role,” Mary C. Mahoney, MD, RSNA Board liaison for publications and communications, said in the same statement. “The RSNA Board is excited to see where he takes this important new journal.”

Radiology: Artificial Intelligence begins accepting submissions this summer.
