ASRT names winners of Distinguished Authors awards

The American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) has announced the recipients of its Radiologic Technology Distinguished Author Award in Honor of Jean I. Widger and Radiation Therapist Distinguished Author Award in Honor of Harold Silverman. Winners of the annual awards are chosen by each journal’s editorial board.

The Radiologic Technology Distinguished Author Award went to the authors of “Personal Exposure Prescription Method Reduces Dose in Radiography,” published in the May/June 2018 issue of Radiologic Technology. The article investigated if an “automatic, personalized exposure prescription method” could reduce radiation dose during x-rays.

The winning authors included Xiaoming Zheng, PhD, Hsien-Wen Chiang, MS, Jung-Hui Li, MS, Hsien-Jen Chiang, MS, and Li-Han Lin, MD.

The Radiation Therapist Distinguished Author Award, meanwhile, went to the authors of “How Do They Do It? Stress and Coping Among Radiation Therapists,” published in the Fall 2018 issue of Radiation Therapist. The article was a thorough study of what radiation therapists experience when working at regional cancer centers.

The winning authors included Cheryl S. Turner, EdD, RT(R)(T), Kimberly Brown, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, Robert D. Adams, EdD, RT(R)(T), CMD, and Melissa B. Jackowski, EdD, R.T(R)(M).

All recipients will be honored June 21 at the ASRT Annual Governance and House of Delegates Meeting in Orlando, Florida. Coverage of 2018’s winners can be read here.
